Those words changed my life, and not for the better.
They were wrong, of course. I wasn’t dead. But I was set up.
After being charged with a string of offences–and made an example of by my political minded father–I’m eventually released back into Shadow Grove with one thing on my mind.
Someone is going to pay for derailing my carefully laid out future. Someone is going to catch the full force of my hate. How very convenient that someone just moved into the bedroom down the hall from me.
Archer D’Ath and his boys messed with the wrong chick and they’re about to learn just how cold Madison Kate’s hate can run.
HATE is a full length mature college/new adult romance with enemies-to-lovers/love-hate themes. This is a reverse harem novel, meaning the main character has more than one love interest. This is book one of four in the series.
OMG! JUST OMG! I love Tate James, little bit of a lady crush, she knows it. This book was everything. The silent reverse harem that just sneaks up on you! Madison Kate, what a mouth full of a name, you know she is trouble. After her mother dies on Halloween, the night just isn’t the same for her. Thus, MK finds herself at a MMA underground fight and all hell breaks loose when a shot fires and a girl ends up being killed. Was the bullet for MK though? She looked just like her. I feel bad for MK, there is so much mystery in this book and it’s killing me! Now we have the guys, Kody, Steele, and Archer. They all have their successful lives after the night that changed everything for MK and her reputation is ruined. AND they live with her now! HA! I would be epically pissed off as well. This book has a lot of steam, RH action, and lots of WHYS! Of course we get the cliffhanger and it was soooo good. I almost didn’t want to read this because I knew it would be. I just can’t! Loved it, read it and you will know why!
The words scrawled on the back of my newest stalker mail makes my blood run cold. I have no idea if it’s the lie I know, or one that I don’t.
Since arriving back into Shadow Grove, I’ve been stalked, tormented, chased and almost killed. I’ve been lied to, repeatedly, by people I was growing to trust.
That word haunts me. Someone knows more about my life than I do. Someone is taunting me with answers and teasing me with secrets. Am I desperate enough to fall for more deception?
Archer and his boys made a huge mistake when they lied to me. They thought they could play me but they’re about to learn that they’ve met their match.
No one stabs Madison Kate and gets away with it.
LIAR is a full length (448 pages, 102,978 words) college/new adult romance with enemies-to-lovers/love-hate themes. This is a reverse harem novel, meaning the main character has more than one love interest. This is book TWO of FOUR in the series.
Liar by Tate James! Well you know that there is going to be mystery, drama, and action. This book has everything! It will keep you on your toes while you try to decide for yourself if Kody, Steel, and Archy are good enough to earn MK’s trust back. This book focused at lot more on Steel, who I love btw. The chemistry between Steel and MK is off the charts. Kody is so sweet and has a dark side to him as well. The steam! Right when two of the three boys gets on MK’s good side, NOPE! Blinded by the light…you know the song. Poor MK! She just can’t help but have a trusting heart. You can’t help but just binge this book! Archy is still a moody a**hole who can’t help but toe the line between lust and hate. MK, her pour heart, I just want to reach in and help it pump in the right direction! I’m still out on the verdict that her BFF has something to do with her stalker. MK is still being stalked, the barbies are creepy, there is still a killer out trying to hurt MK, and the three guys just don’t know how to open up. The secrets get even bigger. AH, cliffhanger because Tate James loves to tease us!! Seriously! That ending…..I don’t eve what to say it, but the third book is going to be a trip!
What do you use to edit your photos? I’ve been trying to get into book edits more and I love what I see, but what do you use?
I currently have an iPhone 11 Pro Max and usually use the Picart app and have recently been using the Lightroom app to edit the color on the picture. I paid for the VIP in Picart because I use it so much and like all there settings, I just wish it had more of a font choice. I also paid for the Light room present package, it’s on dad right now for $9.99/year.
Those manipulative a-holes set out to ruin me after our hot night together, but they didn’t realize you can’t destroy something that’s already broken. And it only works if the victim cares.
Which I don’t.
Because I’ve been in hell for years, and nothing penetrates the steel walls I’ve erected.
Until The Sainthood decides I belong to them and cracks appear in my veneer. Their cruel games, harsh words, and rough touch awakens something inside me, and now, I’m in trouble.
They draw me deeper into their dangerous world, until I’m in the middle of all the violence and gang warfare, tangled up in all the secrets and lies, and there’s no turning back.
Because they own me.
And nothing has ever felt so right.
I’m exactly where I should be.
But with enemies on all sides, survival becomes a deadly game with no guarantees.
And, sometimes, saints become sinners.
Due to mature content, this book is recommended to readers aged eighteen and over. This is a full-length 95k-word dark romance #whychoose novel with enemies-to-lovers/bullying themes. Please read the note at the start of the book. Cannot be read as a standalone and ends with a cliffhanger. Book 1 of 3.
Resurrection: A Dark High School Romance (The Sainthood – Boys of Lowell High Book 1) by Siobhan Davis. This was a crazy bully romance! Right off the bat its a fast burn with a 5-way! Harlow gets the devastating news that her father has died and then walks right in on her boyfriend cheating on her! Way to start out a book Siobhan! Harlow is also out for vengeance. I love that she kicks-ass for a living and can fight for herself. No more meek MC’s for us! Diesel is her trainer and we definitely see some chemistry between the teacher and the student. Then, we come and find that Harlow must now live with these 4 sexy as sin Sainthood members, Saint, Galen, Caz, and Theo, who just happen to be the same guys she had a 5-way with! Her mom, Giana, is getting re-married to the president of the Sainthood and along with him he brings these 4 boys to live with and go to school with Harlow! The hurt just keeps on piling up. Harlow must now look at her tormentor from when she was kidnapped. She grew from that experience, but to look at him everyday and to keep a sin face, NOPE! This book has so much drama, angst, bullying, it really has it all for us.
Harlow wants to take her vengeance and she will by infiltrating the Sainthood and getting these guys under her thumb. She wants to take it down from the inside and make them pay. The Sainthood is like the Mafia. They have chapters and presidents and lots of people to get through to the top. Throughout the book, though it’s not easy, Saint is very possessive and even though they share girls, he doesn’t seem like he wants to, he wants Harlow for himself. Caz is the funny, sexy brute that you just want to see Harlow and him keep hooking up. They are the pranksters. Theo is the shy, nerdy guy who has a past history with Harlow. They loved each other, they were their everything, until he turned on her. Galen is the mystery guy. They seem to be getting along and have some chemistry brewing. Harlow doesn’t want her heart broken but no one ever does, and she goes and falls for these sexy guys. I would totally fall for them also, especially Theo, he seems like my type of guy. The cliffhanger isn’t so bad because you have the second book right away 🙂 but it is still a good one! Galen just surprises us and the WTF moment happens.
Thirteen-year-old Daine has always had a special connection with animals, but only when she’s forced to leave home does she realize it’s more than a knack—it’s magic. With this wild magic, not only can Daine speak to animals, but she can also make them obey her. Daine takes a job handling horses for the Queen’s Riders, where she meets the master mage Numair and becomes his student.
Under Numair’s guidance, Daine explores the scope of her magic. But she encounters other beings, too, who are not so gentle. These terrifying creatures, called Immortals, have been imprisoned in the Divine Realms for the past four hundred years—but now someone has broken the barrier. And it’s up to Daine and her friends to defend their world from an Immortal attack.
This is a throw back to my high school years, Wild Magic by Tamora Pierce is book 1 of 4 of The Immortals series. In the magical world of Tortall, Diane is fierce and loyal and gives a voice to the animals. She is able to do this with her wild magic, something that is rare and can be unknown.
I love Diane’s spunk and her trusty horse Cloud, who has been by her side since they were forced for their home by bandits. throughout her tale Diane learns to trust in humans again and finds friends along the way.
While this is a bit out of the norm from what I read now, it is always good to go back to books that you grew up with. The world of Tortall is beyond fanatic, I can still remember Diane calling the animals to help when she was under attack and still untrained in her magic. You can also see Tamora’s growth in her writing style, that improved with each tale.
If you are looking for a good throwback book this is a great start. Not only is it a complete series. There are multiple other series out within the same world with lots of crossovers!
I am wolf; I am human; I am neither; I am both. I am werewolf.
And I have seven Alpha Males as my mates. All mine to kiss and hold and touch, seven handsome men for my bed. My boys represent the biggest packs in North America. But I am the Alpha Female and I rule them all.
One day, the packs might force me to choose. But my heart, it won’t allow it. Things could get…bloody if I have to fight for my boys. For now, three glittering dark courts threaten our existence with their glamorous cruelty: the vampires, the witches, and the fae.
Werewolves are missing from all the packs, and my boys and I, we have to find them. Or find out who’s killing them. Because I’m the mistress of my men, my packs, a girl known simply as White Wolf. I’ve promised to protect the men I love, the family and friends I cherish. And the White Wolf…always keeps her promises.
***PACK EBON RED is a 300+ page full-length reverse harem/menage, urban fantasy/paranormal romance novel for mature teens and adults 18+ with a happily ever after waiting at the end of the series. It features one strong woman and her seven hot men that will do whatever it takes to protect and support their alpha. This book contains: werewolves, magic, vampires, dark fae, witches, intrigue, steamy sex scenes, romance, paranormal politics, and true love. This is book one of seven.
If you haven’t dived into C.M. Stunich yet, Pack Ebon Red(The Seven Mates of Zara Wolf) might be a good place to start. This is currently book 1 of 5 (four are currently out), so you can binge read all you want! We got the shifters, kick-ass female, seven sexy men who all want Zara’s attention (well, most of them) drama, action, MAGIC, and oh so much more. Like Fae, I’m on a Fae binge and love reading about how authors portray them differently in their books.
Zara is the next Alpha of the North American Packs and is from pack Ebon Red. Her mother is the current Alpha and you don’t want to get on her bad side. She tends to wear her silver like a badge…on her naked skin…so everyone can see how strong she is because silver will make these shifters bleed. Zara must prove to her mother and grandmother that she can be strong enough to lead their packs, which neither thinks she can handle the stress and difficult decisions an Alpha must make.
This reverse harem has 7 shifters that Zara must choose to become her next mate. 7 guys! While she really only wants one (currently) she must uphold tradition and welcome in these 7 hunky men who will live with her for the next year in the packhouse. Right as these packs are showing up for the pairing ceremony (which BTW, is so hot, one of my favorite parts of the books when meeting the guys) Zara and her love interest Nic, from pack Ebon Red, share a moment that they fear will be their last together. While experiencing this sexy scene they discover a burst of magic, which has been long lost to the packs. This leads to Nic being able to be one of Zara’s choices of mates. Yay!
While reading this book you won’t get bored. I think the only thing I had a hard time was trying to figure out which guy was which. You have to remember 7 guys! That is a lot of hotness to figure out. So we have Nic, Anubis, Silas, Monty, Jax, Tidus, and Che. After the pairing ritual, these 8 must figure out who is taking all the shifters and what is happening to them. They must complete this before their time is up and in the end, Zara is expected to choose one singular mate. But why choose right? Ha, Zara ain’t gonna choose, she’s gonna make her own path! Like all the lovely bad-ass females we read about, Zara doesn’t take shit and owns her body and her men.
On this adventure, we have a normal best friend, who likes the bad boys, witches with some crazy cats and scary magic, and some Fae that just like to create trouble. This book will keep you entertained with all the action, drama, sexy scenes and mystery. CM Stunich does an amazing job at creating a landscape for you to hold in your mind and great character development without too many of the mysteries about what might happen next. I love it when the authors just get right in there! You know that CM writes some steamy scenes and you won’t be disappointed in this book. Che and Zara, on their pack run, yeah I thought that was hot 😉
“Girls like you aren’t exactly welcomed at a place like this, so keep your head down and look the other way.”
Those were the exact words of my social worker when she dropped me in my newest hellhole, a place for “troubled teens”.
I didn’t listen, and now I’m on their radar.
They expect me to play along in their games of hierarchy, to fall in line in the social order they’ve deemed me fit.
Too bad for them, I don’t follow rules. Too bad for me, they’re determined to make sure I do.
Inconceivably attractive and treated like kings…these are the boys of Brayshaw High.
And I’m the girl who got in their way.
Boys of Brayshaw High by Meagan Brandy is fast paced and hot! This is the first book in the Braydshaw high series with all 3 out. This was a re-read for me, I had to wait until all 3 were out because I hate book hangovers!
High school bully romances always get the feels going. You are right along the main character with every mean and hateful thing that is done to them. You let the tears slide even though they don’t. This is how you know a book will be great. When there is so much emotion that you realize it is 3am and you have been reading for the past 5 hours.
Raven has been taken out of her “home”. Not that she ever called it that. She is fierce and does things her own way. She is thrown into the Brady house with other delinquents. She is a take no shit from no one type of girl who stands up for what is right, even if it gets her into more trouble.
The boys – Maddoc, Royce & Captain – run this high school, this town and won’t let a trailer trash girl bring them down. They are way out of their league.
Now for the romance part! I at first want to say this is a slow to medium burn, but when it gets hot…dam it is hot, so we can just say fast burn! To top it off, the good parts start out in the woods, don’t they all?
Raven and the boys end up sneaking into another kids cabin, they come close to getting caught and end up in the dark. For most people this would be fine. But Raven has a fear of the dark. The boys need to think fast to keep her under control and from blowing the whole thing. This is where it gets steamy, touching and kissing…and a bit more. Now this isn’t a reverse harem book, but you definitely get all 3 boys for the price of one.
Meagan builds a fantastic world for Raven to fight her way out, only to be pulled back in again and again by the boys. Raven only trusts herself, the boys only trust in each other, they all must learn trust in one another.
I give this a 5 on the steamy factor. While the good stuff doesn’t start right away it does make up for it by the end.
This week we got to speak with author Skyler Kingsley. Thank you for answering our questions! We know that authors have busy lives and we appreciate being able to ask some questions and have a little fun! Skylar is currently working on book two of the Orion Protection Series. Skylar writes humorous characters along with some very steamy scenes. Her books include action, drama, thrills and some hot marines! We love that she used a real marine for the cover photo and took the pictures herself! Check out our book review here!
Q:What got you into writing? A: I’ve been writing poetry since I was in the 4th grade. However, though my dream was to write a novel, I never prioritized writing in my life. After graduating from law school I felt as if my creativity had been stifled by analytical writing. Law school was the catalyst behind my writing because it helped me understand how much I needed to express my creative side. Once I committed to writing the Orion Protection Series, I couldn’t stop. I’d go to sleep dreaming up the next chapter and wake at 5 AM to type it out before my kids woke up.
Q:How do you keep your story straight/organized? A: I type notes on the side and re-read what I wrote. I’ve tried a more detailed outline, but an informal organization works best for me.
Q: What is your favorite character from your book? A: At the moment I’m in love with Mia, the heroine in Stripped: Book 2 in the Orion Protection Series. However, Logan will always have the biggest piece of my heart. I gave him several of my husband’s attributes. I’ll let you guess which ones.
Q:What is the most difficult thing about writing? A: The most difficult aspect of writing is time management. I work a job, have three young girls, coach soccer, skate on the Okinawa Roller Derby Team and am working on my next novel. It’s difficult some days and I’m forced to be creative about my time.
Q:Any recommendations for someone looking into writing? A: Sit down and start. Write a little every day. Start with 500 words a day and work your way up to bigger daily word counts. The key is to write a little every day. Before you know it, you’ll have the first draft. Also, find yourself a supportive writing community. Cheer each other on and celebrate accomplishments together.
Q:What is your favorite writing spot? A: I love to write next to a window when it’s raining. I live in Okinawa, Japan and we get quite a bit of rain here. Truthfully, if my kids are distracted, I’ve been known to sit on the kitchen floor to avoid being seen. I type as quickly as possible until they find me. I will literally write anywhere I can.
Q:What is your favorite vacation spot? A: I love anything with mountains and lakes. I love Lake Tahoe (I’m from the Tahoe/Reno area) and I adore Colorado.
Q:What is your favorite food? A: I love breakfast burritos. I eat them for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
Q:What is your favorite book/series? A: I fell in love with the “Song of the Lioness” series by Tamora Pierce as a kid. Her books helped me realize how beautiful it is to create a world in the mind of another.
Q:What is coming next from you? A: I am currently working on Stripped: Book 2 in the Orion Protection Series. I use real Marines on my covers and do the photoshoots myself, so I’m putting that altogether for the readers. It’s a big project but it’s going to blow you away- I promise.
After surviving foster care and a high school that breeds gang members and drug dealers I’ve finally found my path to freedom: emancipation and a full ride scholarship at the ultra-exclusive Hannaford Prep.
All I have to do is survive.
After attracting the wrong sort of attention from the richest boy in the country, pissing off the hottest guy in school and being humiliated in front of my favorite rock idol I am now the target of the most popular, and cruelest, group in the freshman class.
They want my blood. They can have it. I’m stronger than any spoilt rich kid.
But can I survive the game the Juniors have started with me as the goal? Now every boy at Hannaford wants to have me.
All except the three I want.
Ash, Harley, and Blaise don’t care about the game, all they care about is destroying me.
Just Drop Out by J. Bree is an action packed book with drama, twists, and of course, bullies. This is an academy bully-romance book that you will want to binge all three books that are currently out with the fourth coming out soon! This book was released sometime in 2019 and just appeared in my Kindle suggestions, and I’m so glad that it did!
I would consider this first book a slow burn because we get more of the bully aspect from our harem in the first book. Our main lady is, Eclipse (Lips) who is a badass for real. She could cut you up into little pieces and you wouldn’t know what happened until it is over. While her assassin side is kept secret because she just wants a normal life for once, she keeps getting sucked back into her duties as “The Wolf”. How cool is that, she has her own secrete persona!
Lips wants a normal life, but can she really have it? She has this box, that she keeps hidden. And in this box are these mysterious diamonds. These diamonds are favors. I just love all the mystery around this book.
Ash, Harley, and Blaise give Lips attitude from the beginning and don’t want to waste their time on her, but Lips just draws people in. While we don’t get as much steamy action during this first book, it’s the build up that keeps us interested, right? 😉 This first book was great and wait until you read the next two. I can’t wait to see what happens to Lips and her men!
A rock star with demons. A manager with a secret past. Can they overcome it all and find love?
After relentless bullying throughout her childhood, Tia Marie Daggen dropped out of high school and homeschooled herself, determined to create a better life. Now she is one of the best band managers in the music industry. She starts out on her own when the company she works for screws her over.
Her first client? Her old high school crush, Mikey Ecosta. When she lets down her guard and lets him in, things don’t go as planned. When he asks for one more chance, can Tia let go of the past and trust him with her heart?
Cocky, self-assured rocker Mikey Ecosta knows his effect on women. He flashes a sexy smile and they’re clamoring for his attention. When he meets his new manager, Tia, sparks fly, but she’s determined to keep him at arm’s length. Just when he finally convinces her to let him in, a lie rips them apart. When the truth is revealed, can he win back the one woman who can bring him to his knees, or has he lost her forever?
**TRIGGER WARNING** This book discusses suicide and attempted suicide. In-depth details are not given, but it is spoken about at length. It also talks about mental health and drug addiction. If you feel like these subjects would be hard for you to read about, please avoid.
Secret Smiles by Laura John is the first book in Love in Seinna Series. This was an amazing book. Rock star romance, sex, heart ache – it is an emotional roller-coaster on how miscommunication can turn your whole world upside down.
Tia is bullied as a kid. But she doesn’t let that stop her, she takes things into her own hands and becomes a manager for a rock star group. She is heartbroken to find out that the lead singer was lost due to suicide. In comes Mikey a face from the past soon to be her future.
Love hits you hard and fast here – Tia and Mikey both feel the pull to each other but Tia doesn’t want to mess anything up being Mikey’s manager. In the end the heart wins when they finally give into the passion. This only lasts so long – communication is key to any relationship – but if you don’t talk to each other things will spiral – fast.
One thing leads to another and Mikey breaks things off with Tia. I found this hard to read, but it is so true on how relationships in the real world work, people get hurt emotionally and let that anger make their decisions for them rather than facing it head on.
Tia finds herself in a situation – she is pregnant – but Mikey won’t talk to her and she doesn’t know why. All the while Mikey is letting his anger take him down a dark path. If only they he would talk to Tia. This leads to Mikey falling deeper and deeper into depression until he feels like it isn’t worth it anymore – and attempts to take his own life.
I loved how Laura tackled writing about suicide. Depression is a hard issue for people to talk about. It is thought of as a weakness to ask for help – when in reality there is nothing ever wrong with saying you can’t do it by yourself. That you need the support of your family and friends to get you through the darkness.
I highly recommend this book! It is a quick read filled with tons of emotion to keep you turning until the very last page. I am excited for what comes next.
