Author Spotlight: Frost Kay

This week we had the pleasure to interview Frost Kay. The first book I read by her was, The Hunt. It was fantastic, check out my review. Not only does she write fantasy but also science fiction. Check out her other books and website. Now for the questions.

1. What got you into writing?I entered my first poetry contest at the age of six. Reading has always been an escape and as a child I hated when a series would end. This spurred me to start writing fanfic at the age of ten. From there, I kept writing and reading.

2. Where do you get your inspiration from? I draw inspiration from so many things. Music, art, even my kids. I’ll tell you a secret… I LOVE people watching. So look out! I may be watching…

3. Who is your favorite character? I don’t think I could ever choose! Although, I adore all the characters from any Tamara Pierce, Grace Draven, or Laura Thalassa novel.

4. Do you listen to music while you write? If so what type/do you make a play list?No music for me. I love writing in a quiet peaceful way.

5. Any recommendations for someone looking into writing? Write every single day. Get those words on paper. Never let other things in your life crowd out your writing time. It’s super easy to make excuses or to let life take over. Make time for your writing. It’s important. Treat it that way.

6. What is your favorite vacation spot? Oooo this is hard! I love to travel and have been all over the world. The most recent place we traveled was Australia. I have to say that the aussies stole my heart (the gorgeous beaches didn’t hurt).

7. What is your favorite food? This has to be a trick question. LOL. I like ALL food.

8. What is your favorite book/series? The Tortall series by Tamora Pierce and The Hunger Games.

9. What is coming next from you? I have a squirrel brain so I work on several projects at a time. I’m currently working on Court’s Fool the last book in The Aermian Feuds (dark epic fantasy), The Fallout – Dominion of Ash (post apocalyptic fantasy), The Rook – The Twisted Kingdoms (epic fantasy with a fairytale retelling twist)

We like to thank Frost for taking the time to answer our questions. Happy Friday!
