Book Review: A Court of Thorns and Roses

A Court of Thorns and Roses-Sarah J Maas

Blurb

When nineteen-year-old huntress Feyre kills a wolf in the woods, a beast-like creature arrives to demand retribution for it. Dragged to a treacherous magical land she only knows about from legends, Feyre discovers that her captor is not an animal, but Tamlin–one of the lethal, immortal faeries who once ruled their world.

As she dwells on his estate, her feelings for Tamlin transform from icy hostility into a fiery passion that burns through every lie and warning she’s been told about the beautiful, dangerous world of the Fae. But an ancient, wicked shadow over the faerie lands is growing, and Feyre must find a way to stop it . . . or doom Tamlin–and his world–forever.

Sarah J Maas’s newest series Crescent City comes out March 3rd! To honor that I wanted to review her first book with Feyre’s story in A Court of Thorns and Roses.

I have read this book and then re-read it – and yes read it again and I loved it! The strong personality of Feyre who will do anything to make sure her family is safe.

Feyre is thrown into a world thought to be myth, beyond the wall. All because she wanted to provide for her family. Her father has lost his way after his wife died and she is left to care for her 2 sisters – almost like a reverse Cinderella – but there are no evil step sisters or step mom here – only the masked Tamlin.

Being human can be rough when everyone around you is immortal. How do you compete with magic and fairies?

Tamlin means well. Tricked by an evil fairy – all of his subjects are bound to wear masks, never to show their true identity. He want’s to end this curse and will do anything to achieve this, even sacrifice his men.

Feyre doesn’t want to fall for the mysterious Tamlin. But the mind doesn’t always listen to the heart.

Being the first in a series sets the tone for the rest and Sara J. Maas did not disappoint for book 1. I enjoyed reading about Feyre and Tamlin’s connection.

Fast paced, hidden with mystery to keep you guessing and of corse love. I recommend this book to everyone looking for a new adventure in this fantasy love story.
