Book Review: Famished: Part One (The Broken Series)

Famished Part One: Broken-Ellie Messe

Moms a junkie, Dad’s not dead.

After lying to me for the past twenty-one years, Mom got in too deep with her debt and had to call not-dead dad to bail her out. But wait, there’s more; not-dead dad is a biker who thinks he knows what’s best for the daughter he’s never met. Agreeing to bail dear mom out for the low, low price of one grown ass adult.
So here I am in some hot as sin city with my junkie mom racking up more debt, living day to day with a needle in her arm without anyone around to make sure she’s bathed or fed. I’m sure Ricky will love the fact his favorite hostage is MIA.
Like I don’t have enough problems I’m trying to deal with.
I just need some no name to make it all go away for a little while.
I don’t need love or romance; I just want to forget.

I’m a hungry man, plain and simple.
I’ve got a bomb ass family, great job, and a f*ckable face.
Everything is perfect on the outside; it’s the inside that’s f*cked up.
People die, relationships fall apart, good people turn ugly, and others leave you in the dust. That’s life.
The only problem is when shit gets too dark, and you’re no longer able to lose yourself between some girls thighs, what the f*ck are you supposed to do?
Like I don’t have enough demons trying to claw free.
I just need to lose myself in some piece of pussy that doesn’t reek of tequila.
I don’t need love, f*ck; I don’t want it. I just want to forget.

Due to the sexual nature of this book it is recommended for 18+
This is the second book in the Broken series. It is PART ONE of Two, so there is a cliffhanger. Part Two will be released in May2019.
Some content could be considered triggers. Read at your own digression.

Famished: Part One by Ellie Messe is book two of the Broken series. I loved, loved, LOVED book one of the Broken series. I was a little skeptical of reading Famished because it was in the POV of Drew and Emma and not Haley and Parker. I was hoping for a continuation of Haley and Parker’s story, and yup, we still see that. I can say that I was not disappointed at all! This book does come with a trigger warning like the first one. There may be dark parts that some may not want to read. I don’t think it’s as dark as Broken, but it does bring up things than happened in Broken.

The book starts out with Emma and her POV and how she came to Arizona. Then it switches to Drew and lands in the middle of Broken. We get to see how Drew felt during all of Haley’s issues, attempts at running away. Emma ends up moving in with Drew as his new roommate and holy hot roommate chemistry. I like that Drew just never gave up. He thought it was going to be a one and done. F*ck that, he should have known better.

This book has ALL THE DRAMA! You know you want to read it. If you haven’t read Broken, I highly recommend reading that one first. I’m team Haley/Parker, but I loved reading about Emma and Drew’s story. They are both trying to keep their feelings in check and don’t want to catch any because they really don’t want a broken heart and Drew just doesn’t know what to do with feelings/a relationship. The steamy scenes are hot, hot, hot!

Emma’s dad is the president of a local MC club, but they are legit, no illegal stuff happening at all. I love that she plays poker with her uncle. One of my favorite chapters is when Emma and Drew are playing truth of dare. You know that’s not going to end up well. If Drew wins, they get to have sex and get rid of all the angst roommate chemistry. If Emma wins, Drew has to abstain from sex for a week. Obviously I’m rooting for Drew, because come one, hot, steamy, scene, I’ll read that. But the things they ask and do just keep getting worse. Drew gets a tattoo, A TATTOO! But where? Go read it and find out. It’s pretty funny.

Your heart will break during this book because of course, neither character wants to give in to the other. I felt like Emma developed more into who she is throughout the book. She starts off all pissed at the world and then ends up defending Drew and being there for him even though she should really just walk away and say screw it, he’s not worth it. With a body like his, ehhhh, I’d stay also. Book Crush! (I have a lot of those) Drew finally feels something in his chest and is wondering WTF is this. I am man. I can not catch feelings. Well, too late dude, you did, now go get your woman!

This book also ends in a cliffhanger! But lucky you, book two of Famished is out! AHHH, that ending! I was so sad and upset and just worrying over everyone!
