Top 10 2019

My goal of having this finished by the end of January is a bust. Though it is very hard to pick just 10 books!

New year new trials. With my fearless twin we have started our blog to share our thoughts and reviews of books, games & anything else we find interesting that we want you to know about.

With that being said – here is my top 10 of 2019 – Jac shared her top 10 RH for 2019 – mine is my overall top 10! Boy was this hard to pick just 10, but here it goes.

10. Pain, Curse of the Gods Book Five (Jane Washington & Jaymin Eve)

Ok Cure of the Gods technically came out at the end of 2018. But I have to include this in my top 10 list. This series was creative and just wow, I loved it all. Willa Knight is funny and independent and pure chaos. This series was my introduction into RH, I didn’t know anyone wrote about these type of dynamics – glad they do!

Willa and her 5 Abcurses turn up the heat.

Pain is last book in this series with Willa finally learning all about her past and taking control of her future.

9. Born of Embers (Phoenix Rising Book 1) (Harper Wylde & Quinn Arthurs)

Nix wants to escape. She has been abused and killed all her life. Yes i did just say killed, she keeps coming back to life and doesn’t know why. She manages to get into a collage in Alaska to get away from her abusive father – but she is still always looking over her shoulder.

Introducing her harem. We have Hiro, Killian, Theo, Damien and Ryder all drawn to Nix.

When I am picking out new books I read with my eyes a lot first, yes yes don’t judge a book by its cover, I’m guilty. But look at this cover it just screams HOT. I loved how each character is a different rare mythological creature – who doesn’t want to ride a unicorn?

Trigger warning: This book contains references of abuse

8. Taming Demons for Beginners (The Guild Codex: Demonized Book 1) (Annette Marie)

I have read a few books by Annette and I love the worlds that she creates.

Surviving with a Demon when all he wants is to kill you to get home.

Robin is dealing with the loss of her parents. She is living with the knowledge that magic exists but has always been told to say away from it.All she wants is her mothers Grimore which has been past down from mother to daughter for generations. The only catch is that her Uncle has it – and wont give it back. Here comes the feisty demon Zylas who just wants to come home. Throw in some baked goods and you have a demon contract.

7. I Am Grey (Jane Washington)

Heartbreak and survival. How do you survive when the people you love are gone, when everyone is pushing you away? This is what Mika has to figure out.

Mika is on a path a self destruction but is able to stay afloat with the help of Nicholai Fell. He pushes her to want to survive – making her chose been slipping away and finding herself again.

Jane Washington brings you on a whirlwind of emotions on what is means to lose and the everyday struggle it is to go on when it feels like everyone is pushing you away

Trigger warning – this book contains some sensitive subject matter

6. Risen (Rise of the Iliri Book 10) (Auryn Hadley)

Risen is the final book of the Rise of the Iliri series, besides the novella Hope, and I am so happy that I got to see the end of the epic journey.

Sal is the Kaisae of all Illiri. She is hope to all, even humans. All she want’s is to live in peace and grow old with her family. But the Emporer wants to get rid of the Illiri for good.

Sal has a harem – but it isn’t just about the sex – it is about family and keeping everything together.

Reading Sal’s story has been an adventure.

5. Peyton’s Path: Finding Fate Book 1 (SM Olivier)

This book was recommend to me by Jac. I was in the middle of a few stories, waiting for the next one to come out. Peyton takes you on an emotion journey, you cry right along with her.

WARNING – Do not start this book at the end of your day – you will not sleep!

This book left me crying so many times. To feel the pain that Peyton has gone through but is still able to look on the bright side of things – she is witty and gorgeous and has 6 men falling in love with her.

I cant wait for the next book to see what happens to Peyton and her men.

Peyton’s Path is a Contemporary Reverse Harem.

Trigger warning: This book contains sensitive subject matter

4. Three Mages and a Margarita (The Guild Codex: Spellbound Book 1) (Annette Marie)

How to be human when all your friends have magic?

Tori stumbles into a bar looking for a job. Unbeknowest to her the Crow and Hammer is more than it seems. She sees herself finding out that magic is real and is thrown into their world.

I really like Tori’s personality. She doesn’t take crap from anyone and makes sure to let everyone know that she is staying.

Three Mages and a Margarita is a fast-pasted Urban Fantasy

3. Reign of Magic (The Fairy Tale Enchantress Book 3) (K.M. Shea)

Angelique is a battle enchanctress with a very rare power. The ability to control anything with a edge. This makes her a danger to everyone else….or so she is told. In reality all she wants to do is fine her kidnapped…Evariste and finish her training – which she doesn’t need.

I really liked K.M Shea’s spin on classic farietale stories. Angelique put sleeping beauty to sleep to save her kingdom – Angelique didn’t want to do it but was asked…and so much more.

Book 3 and i couldn’t read it fast enough and now have to wait for book 4.

2. Cast in Oblivion (The Chronicles of Elantra) (Michelle Sagara)

Kaylin is the Chosen

This series is 14 years in the making. I have been an avid follower of Kaylin’s story sense I was in high school. I know without fail that come January I will be able to read what happens next in Kaylin’s life.

Kaylin has to host a diner. Doesn’t seem like that big of a deal, right? Wrong, for the main guest is the Consort. Add a couple dragons and the cohort and you have a party.

There is a lot to the city of Elantra and Kaylin is always at the center. I am exited to hopefully find out why she was the one Chosen, but only time will tell.

When The Dead Have It Easy (The Veil Diaries Book 7) (B.L. Brunnemer)

First on my top 10 – The Veil Diaries (TVD).

Alexis is a feisty redhead who can see the dead because she is a Necromancer. She is “friends” with some amazing guys: Zeke, Miles, Asher, Ethan and Issac.

I don’t want to go into a whole lot of detail in case of spoilers, as this is book 7. This is a series where you can read the books over and over again and not get bored. Waiting for another book to come out and in a slump just read TVD again.

Alexis has pain and love. I can’t wait until February 14th to find out what happens next!

And there it is, my top 10! I am excited to see where so many amazing Authors will take me in 2020.
